High Winds Causing Damage in Region

A woman and small child were very lucky this morning when high winds brought down this tree on Locust Street in Waterloo behind the Save-A-Lot store. Waterloo Police Chief Doyle Marquart says the woman kept driving as the tree hit and smashed the car’s windshield. No one was injured. A utility pole was damaged by the falling tree. A handful of scattered power outages have been reported, including in the town of Hopewell in Ontario County.

The official forecast from the FingerLakes1.com Weather Center states: Windy. A steady rain this morning, with showers continuing this afternoon. High 53F. Winds W at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 60 mph.
