Congressman Sherwood Boehlert Will Retire At Year’s End

Congressman Sherwood Boehlert will later today announce he’ll retire from politics at the end of this year. Boehlert has scheduled a press confrenece for 3-this afternoon in Utica to make the announcement. The Syracuse Post Standard reports that two Oneida County political bosses both say Boehlert will announce that he will not seek another term in Washington. Boehlert is current serving his 24th year in the House of Representatives. The 24th congressional District covers all or parts of 11- counties including Cayuga, Seneca, Tompkins, and Ontario counties. An e-mail sent this week to friends of the congressman asked them to attend the event and thank him for his 42 years of public service.
