Math Exploration Day at Ithaca College

Math Exploration Day — a presentation of puzzles, games and mathematics-related projects—will be held at Ithaca College on Saturday, Nov. 4. Free and open to the public, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third floor of Williams Hall.“Students from the Ithaca College Chess Club, ICircus Club and Pi Mu Epsilon, the college’s mathematical honor society, will take part in lively interactions with local elementary school students as well as kids of all ages,” said Dani Novak, associate professor of mathematics. “Our goal is to help young people discover that mathematics is not something scary or boring but as much a part of our human experience as music and art.”Local teachers will also be on hand for the activities, which include making robots out of Lego parts and creating computer art using mathematical principles. For more information on attending the event, contact Dani Novak at (607) 274-3595 or novak@ithaca.edu.
