Montour Falls Harvest Fest Seeks Scarecrows

The Falls Harvest Festival is seeking creative, whimsical entries for the first-ever Scarecrow Contest on Saturday, October 6, 2007, along Main Street in Montour Falls. Sponsored by Chemung Canal Trust Company, the Scarecrow Contest will award $50 to the overall Most Original, Most Humorous, Best Traditional. and Best of Show in age and business/corporate categories.Suggestions include traditional harvest figures utilizing agricultural products and farm throw-aways, humorous interpretations of current events, cartoon or storybook characters, and modern day or past celebrities. Scarecrows must be original creations and in good taste.Pre-registration is required, and an entry fee of $5 will be charged. Entry forms are available at the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce / Watkins Glen Promotions and at Chemung Canal Trust Company’s Montour Falls and Watkins Glen offices. They are also downloadable at www.schuylerny.com. Individuals, families and groups are encouraged to enter.The Falls Harvest Festival is generously sponsored by Cargill, Inc. and coordinated by the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce / Watkins Glen Promotions.
