Ovid man flees after altercation at local business

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, Deputies arrested Ralph J. Piccolo, 52, of 6988 County Road 132A in Ovid, following an investigation into a disturbance at a Town of Romulus business. Piccolo was allegedly involved in an altercation at the business and fled the scene. Deputies spotted the vehicle described by witnesses and stopped the vehicle on West Blaine Road in the Town of Romulus after it failed to stop for a stop sign. During the traffic stop, Deputies discovered Piccolo was in possession of a loaded gun in the vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police and Piccolo was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Stop for a Stop Sign, and Possession of a Loaded Gun in a Motor Vehicle. Piccolo was arraigned in the Ovid Town Court and committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $1,500 cash bail/$3,000 secured bond. Piccolo is to reappear in the Romulus Town Court on October 3rd, 2008 at 10am.
