FL Impact to hold practice at Canandaigua VA

On June 5, the Finger Lakes IMPACT, a semi-pro football team based in Waterloo, NY, held a Charity Game to benefit the VA Recreation Department with the veterans coming to the game and meeting the players and cheerleaders. After the game, Hank Riegel, Director of the Recreation Department at the Canandaigua VA Hospital, invited the IMPACT to visit the VA Hospital for a tour and to hold an open practice at the VA for the veterans and staff. After weeks of negotiations, final approval was given to allow the IMPACT to visit the hospital and hold a practice. The IMPACT, who normally practice at a field in Phelps, NY, will begin practicing at the VA Hospital Courtyard in Canandaigua, NY every other Thursday starting August 5 at 6:30 pm”This is a great opportunity for the IMPACT players, cheerleaders and coaches” said General Manager Penny Teed. “The IMPACT Family will get a chance to tour the facility and visit the Memorial Wall. We couldn’t be more proud.”About the Finger Lakes IMPACTThe Finger Lakes IMPACT is an adult football team consisting of 59 players, 12 cheerleaders and 8 coaches. They come from towns such as Auburn, Newark, Geneva, Penn Yan, Waterloo, Rochester, Clyde and Phelps. Home games are played on Saturday nights at Tom Coughlin Stadium at Waterloo High School.
