More info on Tuesday’s Brutus daytime burglary

Sheriff David Gould reports that The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation into the daytime residential burglary which occurred on Cottle Rd. in the Town of Brutus yesterday. Detectives have developed a suspect description and suspect vehicle description as follows:White male, age 18-25, dark brown medium length hair, clean cut looking, 5’ 10” tall medium to stocky build operating a black or dark colored Ford Ranger or similar style small pickup truck with a dull finish.The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an attempted burglary which occurred yesterday as well, on Jordan Rd. in the Town of Elbridge. Both burglaries appear to be connected as a vehicle was driven through the grass and behind the residences in both cases. The public should be aware that persons that commit daytime residential burglaries often knock on a door to find out if anyone is home. If they encounter a resident they will often ask for someone by name that doesn’t live there or for directions or make up some other reason for being at the residence. If they receive no answer at the door, they then force entry and commit the burglary. The public should report any incidents of suspicious strangers at their doors.
