Organic Garden project in Ithaca

GroOrganic and the Covenant Love Community School teachers and students are taking part in developing an organic garden. This project involves installing a raised planter, adding fresh organic soil, then planting and seeding organic herbs and vegetables. There will also be a cold frame installed that will allow an extended growing season. This project will be completed in phases by working with the children on a weekly basis. The garden is a collaborative effort between groOrganic and the Covenant Love Community School in Freeville, NY.This project provides the school children with a hands-on vegetable gardening experience, which meets cross-curricular New York State Standards. School gardens are a way of educating children about healthy lifestyles and sustainability within the community.
