Defending champs Wayne Eagles defeat Newark

Newark, N.Y. — The defending Finger Lakes East champion Wayne Eagles picked up right where they left off last season, winning their ninth-straight regular season game with a commanding 41-7 victory over host Newark Friday night in the 2011 season-opener. Wayne, who went 7-0 in the regular season last year en route to the schools first-ever league title in the programs 14-year existence, were led by Cory McNamara, who had four catches for 108 yards and a pair of touchdown catches. McNamara, a senior, also had one interception on defense. Last year he set a New York state record with 12 total interceptions.
