Teens injured in one car accident in Seneca Falls

On 01/14/12 at approximately 12:16 p.m., the Seneca Falls Police Department responded to Blackbrook Road in the area north of Ridge Street in the Town of Seneca Falls for a report of a personal injury accident. Police were advised that the vehicle had rolled over onto its side and that the driver had been ejected. Once on scene, police observed the driver, Anthony J. Wickum, age 19, of 2295 W. Tyre Rd, Seneca Falls, NY to show no visible signs of injuries.The vehicle had come to a rest in the yard of a Blackbrook Road resident. Wickum had stated he was not wearing his seatbelt prior to the accident. Wickum was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical Center after further investigation revealed Wickum may have struck his head when being ejected. A passenger in the vehicle, Adam M. Wheeler, age 16, of 10 Lincoln Ave, Seneca Falls, NY was treated at the scene for head injuries. He was taken to Geneva General Hospital for further treatment. The vehicle also struck a garbage can and mailbox.The cause of the accident was determined to be due to icy road conditions. The vehicle sustained major damage and was towed from the scene. Wickum was issued a ticket for not wearing his seatbelt, he is to appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court at a later date and time to answer to the charge.
