Lodi arrest nets 2 ounces of mushrooms, 11 ounces of pot

Members of the the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Road Patrol and Narcotics Division arrested Joseph L. Bongiovanni, 39, of 261 Roesch Avenue, Buffalo, New York, on charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a Class A-II Felony, Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the third degree, a Class E Felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. The charges stem from an investigation of a burglar alarm at a Town of Lodi business. The arriving deputy sheriff located a suspicious vehicle attempting to leave the business. The vehicle was stopped and the occupant, Bongiovanni, was interviewed. Upon further investigation, Bongiovanni was found to be in possession of two ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms, two digital scales, and 87 plastic baggies commonly used for the packaging of illicit drugs. Bongiovanni also possessed over eleven ounces of marihuana that were in various forms. The marihuana included plant material, liquid marihuana, and hash. Bongiovanni was arraigned in the Lodi Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail/$200,000 secured bond. Bongiovanni is to reappear in the Lodi Town Court on February 16, 2012 at 11:30am.
