Apartments damaged by Saturday fire in Waterloo

On Saturday at approximately 2:04 p.m., the Waterloo Police Department responded with the Waterloo Volunteer Fire Department to the report of a structure fire at 58 1/2 Inslee Street in Waterloo, NY.Upon arrival, flames were coming from Apartment #2 of the four (4) unit apartment building. The fire was extinguished by the first arriving members of the Fire Department. At the time of the fire, only one person was home in another apartment.The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team.Apartments #1 and #3 sustained smoke damage. Apartment #2 sustained fire, smoke, and water damage.The building was insured.Assisting at the scene were the following: Border City Fire Department, Fayette Fire Department – Fast Team, Seneca Falls Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, N.Y.S. Office of Fire Prevention and Control, N.Y.S. Police, Seneca County Codes, Seneca County Office of Emergency Management, the America Red Cross, and N.Y.S.E.G. The Geneva Fire Department stood by at the Waterloo Fire Department and Oaks Corners Fire Department stood by at the Border City Fire Department.Occupants of the apartment building were displaced by the fire and were given temporary housing by the Red Cross or stayed with family members.
