Cayuga Sheriff investigating car break-ins in Aurelius

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police are investigating a series of larcenies from vehicles which occurred in the Town of Aurelius over a four day period. 5 vehicles were entered between May 4th and May 7th in the areas of Clark St. Rd., Emily Dr., Upper Dr. and Beech Tree Rd. The perpetrator(s) entered unlocked vehicles and stole purses and wallets containing cash, credit cards and I.D.’s.Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Sheriff’s Detectives at (315) 253-1610, or Investigators at New York State Police Auburn at (315) 253-3103.The Sheriff’s Department also continues to investigate two residential burglaries in which safes containing large amounts of cash were stolen. Between 11/6/12 and 11/29/12 a residence on Murphy’s Way in the Town of Owasco was entered and a safe containing a large amount of cash and some pearls was stolen. On 4/17/13 a residence on Turnpike Rd. in the Town of Throop was entered and a safe containing a large amount of cash was stolen. There is no indication that the two cases are related at this time.The Sheriff’s Department requests that anyone with information on any of these crimes contact detectives at (315) 253-1610.
