Third suspect arrested in Conquest home invasion

Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has made the third and final arrest in connection with the burglary of an occupied home which occurred at approximately 3:45 am on June 15th on McDonald Rd. in the Town of Throop.On that date, a resident awoke to find unknown persons in her home and when she called out to them they fled. Responding Sheriff’s Deputies encountered a wrecked, stolen vehicle near the scene and could hear the suspects fleeing out through the woods.An intense search of the area for several hours was unsuccessful however the investigation that followed lead to the arrest of two persons later that same day along with the recovery of a handgun which had been possessed by Devin Shoults during the commission of the burglary.The investigation also revealed that James Geer may have also been armed with a handgun at the time of the burglary however that weapon has not yet been recovered and is believed to have been discarded in the fields or woods that they fled through that morning. The weapon still being sought is believed to be a silver colored revolver. Charged June 15th were:Devin T. Shoults, age 16, of 1538 River Rd. in Conquest.James J. Geer, age 27, of 64 King St. in Port Byron. Devin Shoults plead guilty to Burglary 2nd and Unauthorized Use of a motor vehicle 3rd on August 8th and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.James Geer has also pleaded guilty to Burglary 2nd and Unauthorized Use of a motor vehicle 3rd. He is scheduled to be sentenced to 8 years in prison on 10/10/13.Further inquiries about the status of these prosecutions should be directed to the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office. Charged on Wednesday October 2nd was:Timothy J. Mack, age 27, of 15 Pleasant St. in Auburn.Mack was charged with Burglary in the 2nd degree (felony), Grand Larceny in the 4th degree (felony) and Conspiracy in the 4th degree (felony).Mack was arraigned in the Town of Throop Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail.
