Two charged in cocaine sales sting in Waterloo

On Friday, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit arrested two subjects following an investigation into suppliers of cocaine in Seneca County. The investigation concluded with members of the Sheriff’s Office executing a search warrant at 506 Waterloo/Geneva Road in the Town of Waterloo.Sheriff’s Investigators seized approximately 5.5 ounces (over one quarter of a pound) of cocaine, packaging materials, digital scales, and approximately $2,100.00 in United States currency. The street value of the cocaine found inside the home is estimated to be more than $15,000.It was also determined following the investigation that a child under the age of eighteen years old resided in the while the drugs were possessed in home. Following the sear ch warrant, Sheriff’s Investigators charged both Mildred Ortiz, 40, and Benigno Lopez, 39, with:Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a Class A-II FelonyCriminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B FelonyCriminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree, a Class A MisdemeanorUnlawfully Dealing with a Child in the First Degree, a Class A MisdemeanorOrtiz and Lopez both reside at 506 Waterloo/Geneva Road, Waterloo, New York.Ortiz was arraigned in the Waterloo Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail/$20,000 secured bond. Ortiz is to reappear in the Waterloo Town Court on December 9, 2013 at 9:00 am.Lopez was also arraigned in the Waterloo Town Court and remanded to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $35,000 cash bail/$70,000 secured bond. Lopez is to reappear in the Waterloo Town Court on December 9, 2013 at 9:00 am.The Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit was assisted by members of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and the Sheriff’s Uniform Road Patrol.
