Friday warmth gives way to cool, wet weekend

The daytime hours today will not be too bad. Clouds will often be thick, but a few breaks of sun are likely later this morning and early in the afternoon. Milder temperatures compared to recent days will be a welcome change as well, with most areas getting above 60 degrees. It is tonight that the weather starts to turn wet again. A storm system over the Ohio Valley will likely move into our region in the late afternoon and evening hours with periods of rain. Some of the rain may come down a bit heavy at times, but no flooding problems are expected. The chances for any thunder with the rain is likewise very low. This system will linger in the region for a while, with showers likely on Saturday, Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Cold air coming in behind the system may even bring some higher elevation snow (yes, again) around dawn on Sunday.Cool rainy days are going to be the rule through next week as we slide into an unsettled pattern. Only later Sunday afternoon and Monday are looking dry right now as we look at the next 7 days or so.
