Where to dine lake-side in the Finger Lakes

Considering how many linear miles of shoreline they constitute, there are not many lakeside restaurants along the Finger Lakes. The peculiar history of the lakes means that they are mostly lined with private residences with state parks and boat launches here and there and, very rarely, a village. Most of the lakes have a village at one or the other end, occasionally both. There are perhaps more restaurants right on Keuka Lake than elsewhere. One of these is the classic Switzerland Inn, north of the village of Hammondsport on the eastern shore of the lake. This venerable eatery—it has been in continuous operation since 1894—is a 10-minute drive up Rt. 54 from Hammondsport. When you duck down Keuka Village Road from the highway you realize that from the deck of the restaurant you will have a splendid view of the junction of the three arms of this Y-shaped lake.Read more at Ithaca.com
