Police arrest Cranebrook Golf Course vandals

Sheriff David Gould reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 2 teenagers in connection with the damage done to Cranebrook Golf Course on Sunday June 15th. Charged are two 16 year old males from Montezuma. The arrests were made on 6/19 and 6/20. Both have been charged with Criminal Mischief in the 2nd degree (felony). Both have been arraigned in the Town of Throop Court and released to their parents. The estimated damage to the golf course and the golf cart combined now stands in excess of $11,000.00. Due to the potential for “Youthful Offender” status the names of the subjects charged are being withheld. Cranebrook staff reports that, during the above time frame, unknown subject(s) took at least 3 golf carts and drove them around the course causing extensive damage to the fairways and greens and the carts themselves.The damage occured between Saturday June 14, 2014 at 9:00 PM and Sunday June 15, 2014 at 6:30 AMTHE SHERIFF REQUESTS THAT ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION OR ANYONE WHO HAS SEEN ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS IN THIS AREA, PLEASE CONTACT DETECTIVE FRANKLIN AT 315-253-1610 TO REPORT YOUR CONCERNS.
