Seneca Falls Farmers Market open rain or shine

Rain or shine the vendors will have plenty of local produce and other locally made and produced items at the Seneca Falls Farmers Market. So come on down Wednesday from 9 am to 1:30 pm in People’s Park and support local businesses and local agriculture! The strawberries have been delicious every week and the variety of fresh fruits and veggies has grown as the bounty of the Finger Lakes ripens with the warming weather. There are fresh greens, radishes, beans, rhubarb, asparagus, spring onions, tomatoes, and zucchini and yellow squash. And there’s always honey, maple syrup, eggs, maple flavored popcorn, baked goods, grass fed beef, free range chicken, local beef and pork, jams and jellies and handmade items. Baked goods include homemade breads, sticky buns, whoopie pies, cookies and muffins. Run through the raindrops or bring your umbrella! And don’t forget to plan on having lunch in the park while you are shopping. Two vendors will be serving up a great local lunch. Schrader Farms Meat Market is a USDA inspected meat market in Romulus, NY and they will be grilling up their own hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages for you to enjoy as a lunch time treat! Their special this week will be philly cheese steak. They will also be selling many of their locally grown and butchered meat products. Tuckerman Farms will be serving bbq chicken and potatoes and fresh fruit slushies. Come enjoy a meal in the shade at the picnic tables in the park. Come and shop and eat local! Besides the abundance of fresh, just picked veggies and fruits don’t forget about the vintage lavender filled linens, plants in pretty pots, homemade soaps and homemade jewelry. Come and use your EBT card and buy anything the vendors are selling that is food stamp eligible. Stretch your food dollars with local foods! Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension will have a nutrition educator at the park every week this season with recipes using in season produce to taste and many nutrition tips. Come and meet your neighbors and friends and talk to the people who grow the food you will eat. Pass this email on to your friends, family or coworkers who might be interested. Have them send us their email to be added to this weekly “blast”. Like Seneca Falls Farmers Market on Facebook to get weekly updates. www.facebook.com/senecafallsfarmersmarket The market would not be possible without the support of the Seneca Falls Development Corporation and the Town of Seneca Falls. Thank you to them for helping support local products and businesses! See you in the Park!
