Seneca Falls man arrested for $9,000 bounced check

On Wednesday at 1:21 pm, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Derek D. Ford, age 30 of 16 Rumsey Street in Seneca Falls. The arrest stems from a warrant that was issued by the Town of Seneca Falls Court.FordPolice officers were aware the warrant was issued and observed Ford operating his vehicle on Cayuga Street in the Town of Seneca Falls. A traffic stop was conducted and Ford was taken into custody without incident. Officers then discovered that Ford was also driving on a suspended license.The warrant stems from an incident where Ford issued a bad check to another individual for the sum of $9,000.00 and the check had subsequently bounced.Ford was taken to the Town of Seneca Falls Court and arraigned in front of Honorable Judge Lafler for two charges; Issuing a Bad Check, a class B Misdemeanor and Aggravated unlicensed operation, also a misdemeanor.While at court it was discovered that Ford also had another warrant for failure to pay a fine on a charge of fishing without a license.Ford paid his fine for the fishing without a license and was released on his own recognizance for the other two charges.He is scheduled to re-appear in the Town of Seneca Falls Court on July 23, 2014 at 10:00 am.
