Autumn chill to intensify in the Finger Lakes

For the past week, we have been in a very typical autumn like pattern. Temperatures remain cool, with highs generally in the 60s and lows in the 40s with the occasional drop into the upper 30s.Today will continue to follow that pattern as high pressure to our south keeps a cold front at bay to our north. We should enjoy a good deal of sun today and temperatures in the mid and upper 60s.Some clouds will move in tonight, keeping temperatures from falling too far into the 40s. These clouds will be ahead of the cold front as it sags to the south. The front should clear the Finger Lakes region by early afternoon tomorrow. The good news is that there should be little to no rain with this front as it passes through. The bad news is the cold, Canadian high pressure that will build in behind it.Skies should clear by late Thursday as that high pressure pushes south. The clear skies and calm winds will allow temperatures to drop well into the 30s. Some locations may even dip below freezing, placing agricultural interests in danger. Check back tomorrow for a detailed temperature map outlining the areas most likely to see frost and freeze conditions. For the latest local forecast, conditions, and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
