One dead in Monday morning Cato crash

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle accident on New York State Route 34 in the Town of Cato that involved a collision between a passenger car and a full sized dump truck.The investigation has revealed that Timothy F. Donovan, 54, of 36 Burt Ave Auburn, was operating a 1996 Mack Dump Truck registered to Robinson Concrete Inc. in a northerly direction when a southbound 2014 Chevrolet Impala operated by Trevor J. McIntyre, 28, of 1407 Vrolyk Road Eaton, crossed into the Northbound lane. Donovan was not able to avoid colliding with the southbound vehicle and as a result Trevor J. McIntyre was killed.McIntyre was pronounced dead at the scene and Donovan was transported to Crouse Hospital in Syracuse where he was being treated for what appear to be minor injuries.The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Cornelius at the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.Assisting the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation were the New York State Police, Weedsport Fire Department, Port Byron Fire Department, Cato Fire Department, CIMVAC Ambulance, Jordan Ambulance, Rural Metro Ambulance, Cayuga County E-911, and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.
