United Way wants to thank community

United Way of Cayuga County and IGNITE, the 2014 Campaign Chairs, are proud to present the first annual “Thank You Day” on Saturday, October 11th from 12:00 – 3:00pm at the Genesee Mall and Exchange St. This free community event will feature food, music, raffles, and many family-fun activities! The purpose of United Way’s Thank You Day is two-fold. First, the United Way and its 21 agencies are saying “thank you” to the community for their support, by hosting this family-friendly event. Secondly, it allows the community to thank these agencies for their services. If you, or someone you care about, have been affected by one of these agencies, you may create a thank you card (signatures are not required). Cards are available at any United Way agency, the United Way of Cayuga County office, or during the event. The cards will be displayed on a clothesline during the October 11th Thank You Day event.“When IGNITE learned that 40% of Cayuga County residents are served by the agencies and programs that are funded by the United Way, we thought of this idea for a community ‘Thank You Day’. We have invited local businesses to add to our festivities with a raffle item, their favorite fall treat, or by sponsoring a family-friendly activity. All participating businesses and organizations will be donating a portion of their proceeds back to the United Way, which funds these crucial agencies and programs for our community. Your involvement will help make “Thank You Day” an annual fall event.” – Maureen Riester, IGNITE Past-ChairFor more information, or to participate, please contact the United Way office at (315) 253-9741 and follow our Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1515975791975724/
