Waterloo Rotary hosts 2nd Annual Pumpkin Walk

Ghosts + Witches + Halloween treats + Lots of Pumpkins = Fun!It’s time for the second annual Waterloo Rotary and Interact Pumpkin Walk. This family-friendly fun event will be on Saturday, October 25 at Oak Island. Cost is $2 per person.“Now is the time to think about your pumpkin creation for our Pumpkin Walk,” said Kathy Sigrist, co-chair of the event. “We hope to have more than 100 pumpkins this year.”Your pumpkin doesn’t have to be a typical pumpkin with triangle for eyes a circle for a nose and a tooth filled grin, added co-chair Coreen Lowry. Be creative, or steal someone else’s idea from a magazine or online (Pinterest) for different ideas in creating your pumpkin. You can even use gourds or other vegetables. Make sure there is a candle, tea light, flashlight, etc. You can take your pumpkin home after the walk.Bring your pumpkin to Oak Island at 2-4 p.m. Come back at dusk to walk along the Oak Island trail, guided by Rotarians and Interact students in costume.Wear your own costume and join the fun. There will be Halloween treats to enjoy and even randomly awarded prizes.After the walk, the fun continues with Halloween games at the community center.Proceeds benefit Rotary’s community service projects.Waterloo Rotary meets every Monday at 6:30 pm at Waterloo-Seneca Falls Holiday New members are always welcome.
