A nice day today sandwiched between soggy nights

Today will have some similar characteristics to the weather yesterday. We are starting out with a few showers this morning as a disturbance moves away from the region after bringing some rain overnight. As this system departs, the sun should break through the clouds for the late morning and a good part of the afternoon. Temperatures will rise well into the mid and upper 60s and the wind will be gusty out of the south. Finally, by late this afternoon, rain from a new system will be moving into the western Finger Lakes before overspreading the entire region this evening. Gusty winds will continue overnight, combing with the cloud cover and rain to keep temperatures mild with lows in the 50s.The one big difference is in the strength of the system tonight, which should have a bit more punch than last night’s. Some of the rain could come down heavy at times and some thunder and lightning are possible. Severe storms are not likely, but some enhancement to the already gusty winds are possible. Our weather pattern will begin to change tomorrow as the upper level low over Canada that is driving this pattern moves east. Expect a showery Wednesday before dry weather to end the week. For the latest local forecast and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
