Suspect in Geneva Byrne Dairy robbery arrested

On Sunday at 1:34 am, members of the Geneva Police Department responded to a commercial burglary alarm at Byrne Dairy on Castle Street in the City of Geneva. With use of the installed video system and investigation it was learned that an unknown male broke into the store and stole about $750.00 dollars worth of store items, including NYS Lottery Tickets.A canvas of the area proved negative at that time. All stores were notified of the burglary and proceeds of the crime.On Monday at 11:55 am, Geneva Police received a call from a quick thinking store clerk at another commercial business in the City of Geneva who believed the suspect was attempting to cash in the proceeds from the Byrne Dairy burglary. Upon arrival it was Shadylearned that the suspect was just in the store and was attempting to travel to Webster, New York.The suspect, Jacob Phillip Shehady, age 28 of Brook Street in Geneva, was located on Exchange Street and based upon further investigation and evidence was arrested and charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony. He was arraigned and sent to Ontario County Jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond to reappear in Geneva City Court on Tuesday morning.
