Cops seize 6 ounces of marijuana from Trumansburg man

Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies stopped a vehicle on State Route 96 in the Town of Covert for speeding on Tuesday evening. Following further investigation, the driver Brandon C. McGill, age 21 of 11 Kentucky Avenue in Trumansburg, was arrested for Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was also charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree.It is alleged that McGill possessed suboxone strips, amphetamine pills and approximately 6 ounces of marijuana.A passenger, Devin C. Mcgill, age 51, also of Kentucky Avenue in Trumansburg, was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 4th degree, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest, all class A misdemeanors.This arrest stems from Devin attempting to physically take back marijuana that deputies seized from him and resisting deputies’ efforts to take him into custody.Devin was arraigned in the Town of Covert Court and remanded to the custody of the sheriff in lieu of $1,000 cash bail $2,000 bond.Brandon McGill was arraigned in the Town of Covert Court and released to appear on the 10th of November at 10:00 am. Devin is also to return in the Town of Covert court on November 10th. Deputies were assisted on scene by the New York State Police and the Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit.
