Cloudy and cool before temps drop this weekend

After the impressively warm weather we had yesterday, we have been thrust right back into a typical Finger Lakes fall pattern.Cool air is moving in behind a cold front that crossed the region last night. This front is pushing into New England this morning and is well ahead of the parent low north of Michigan. There is still plenty of moisture in the atmosphere, so clouds will likely remain thick through today and most of Thursday. The Great Lakes will enhance the moisture, and could produce a few light lake effect rain showers. The best chance for these showers will be later today, once winds shift from the southwest to the west. A second period of showers, which should be more widespread than the first, will move in as the winds turn to the northwest tomorrow morning.Temperatures will be near average today, with highs in the mid 50s, but below average on Thursday with highs in the mid and upper 40s. A new system will spread some showers into the region on Friday ahead of even colder temperatures this weekend with the potential for light snow. For the latest local forecast and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
