Damon Hunter drops 40; Coach Young’s Lions roll on

Damon “Tippy” Hunter has scored over 30 points in each of Lyons’ postseason wins en route to their Class C3 Section V Championship. On Monday night, in the Class C State playoff opener, he one-upped himself. The Lyons super senior dropped an unbelievable 40 points on a stunned Early College squad as the Lions defeated the Class C1 champs 70-57 at Red Jacket High School in Shortsville. If that weren’t enough, the wiry 5’10 145 lb. point guard pulled down 11 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. The win was also Coach Zac Young’s 100th career coaching victory, all of them at Lyons. The Lions led 16-14 after the first quarter and built a 6 point lead after Deondre McDonald buried a three pointer at the halftime buzzer.
