Romulus woman charged with welfare fraud

Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Thursday they arrested Jennifer Oberbeck, age 26 of 5630 Route 96 in Romulus. Oberbeck was arrested on a warrant issued out of the Waterloo Village Court charging her with one count of Welfare Fraud 4th degree and one count of Grand Larceny 4th degree. The charges stem from an investigation into a report that Jennifer Oberbeck failed to report income earned by another person residing at her address during the same time in which she was receiving public assistance benefits. The charges allege that during the time between December 1st 2014 and March 2015 Oberbeck did receive $1,264.00 in public assistance benefits that she would not have been qualified to receive had she reported the extra household income. Oberbeck was arraigned before Waterloo Village Court and then released on her own recognizance. Oberbeck is scheduled to re-appear in court on May 6 to answer the charges.
