Geneva Events Factory Competition

The City of Geneva Events Factory will be hosting an event competition which reaps more than going for the gold- the winner will be going for the green. There will be two competitions, one for neighborhood associations of Geneva and one for regional parties who are interested in holding an event in Geneva, and both winners will reign in monetary prizes to assist in costs associated with the event. “The goal is always to spark interest in people who have great ideas for events to move forward with them, and to develop high quality, well-organized events that add to the activity and vibrancy of the City,” said Events Factory Coordinator, Chelsea Campbell. The first competition will be held between the eleven neighborhoods in Geneva. It must be a new event, held in a city park or space, and open to the public. Winners of this competition will receive up to $200 towards their event. The second event will be extended to individuals in the Finger Lakes Region. Those who are interested in bringing their event to the City of Geneva are welcome to complete an application. The winning submission will be granted up to $300 towards their event. All winning parties will have full assistance in organizing the event from the Events Factory Coordinator, and all City application fees will be waived. Bonus point will be given to any event that will be held from the shoulder season of November to May, and if the event is held as a fundraiser. Winning parties will have access to all Events Factory equipment and resources. Bonus points will also be given to neighborhood associations that work together to create an event. The Events Factory Advisory Committee will be judging the application to determine a winner. The committee is composed of cross section of volunteers, nonprofit leaders, and event specialists. Applications will be available at the Events Factory at 430 Exchange Street, or online at www.eventsfactory.org. The deadline for submission will be June 1st, and the advisory committee will make their selection on June 19th.
