Geneva Music Festival 2015 line up

The Geneva Music Festival has announced its most diverse line-up yet for its 5th annual concert season, which runs from June 5th to June 21st, 2015. Clive Greensmith, former cellist of the Tokyo String Quartet, and Ani Kavafian, violinist and Professor at Yale School of Music, will return to join GMF director Geoffrey Herd, violinist Eliot Heaton, the dynamic ensemble New Morse Code (composed of cellist Hannah Collins and percussionist Michael Compitello), and many others. New to the Geneva Music Festival this season is jazz musician Thomas Bergeron and his hybrid jazz ensemble.The Festival is proud to offer an exciting variety of sounds this summer, including classical chamber music, improvisatory jazz, high-octane fiddling and bluegrass, and dynamic ventures in contemporary music. GMF 2015 audiences will be treated to a repertoire brimming with exciting music. Highlights include Schubert’s masterful String Quintet in C Major, the passionate piano trios of Ravel, Turina and Brahms, smooth jazz, new works, and much more!June 5th will mark the beginning of the 2015 concert season: a weekend round of piano trio concerts featuring cellist Clive Greensmith, violinist Geoffrey Herd, and pianist Christopher Janwong McKiggan in Geneva, Canandaigua, and Skaneateles (June 5th, 6th, and 7th). Violinist Ani Kavafian and cellist Clive Greensmith will be among the many returning GMF artists to delight audiences with music of Dvorak, Kodaly and Schubert in Geneva at Hobart and William Smith Colleges and at the Willard Memorial Chapel in Auburn (June 12th and 13th). New Morse Code will offer a free concert at the Geneva Community Center as well as a performance at Billsboro Winery to showcase contemporary works using the unique range and sonic world of cello and percussion (June 11th and 14th). GMF organist Zahari Metchkov will offer three organ recitals in Geneva, Canandaigua, and Auburn, featuring majestic pieces spanning from the Baroque Period to the Modern era (June 16th, 17th, and 18th). A jazz concert featuring trumpeter Thomas Bergeron and his hybrid jazz chamber ensemble will be offered at the Smith Opera House in downtown Geneva (June 20th). Violinists Eliot Heaton and Shawn Moore along with bassist Greg Robbins will close the season with an entertaining afternoon of high-octane fiddling and bluegrass at Ravines Winery (June 21st). Tickets to each performance are $20, with the exception of the Boys and Girls Club Concert on June 11th, which is free. Students 18 and under are welcome at all concerts at no charge.
