FLX Slammed By Severe Storm

The last week has brought extensive rain to the central and northern Finger Lakes counties but late Wednesday evening the most severe and damaging storm cell of the season hammered communities in Cayuga, Ontario, Seneca and Wayne Counties. On Thursday morning, residents and officials assessed the damage and began to clean-up the mess. – On Thursday afternoon the NWS confirmed a tornado in Ontario County A massive thunderstorm hammered the central Finger Lakes around 10:30 pm on Wednesday night. As seen here at Sampson State Park, the storm was moving from west to east just North of the park. I’ve seldom seen the sky light up with so many lightning strikes at once. Photo by Rachel Burkholder.A damage assessment team from the National Weather Service will be checking out damage in Ontario County Thursday following severe storm activity last night. The weather service will use its assessment of damages in the county to determine if a tornado hit the county. Also, photos of the damage in Farmington from the Daily Messenger.Dan Wiesner sent us this footage of the thunderstorm as seen from Seneca Lake looking north at Geneva on Wednesday evening…The Daily Messenger posted an assessment of the storm damage and impact on Thursday morning and the Finger Lakes Times reports that folks in Kashong area of Geneva say DOT has been too slow to respond to flooding.
