Chateau LaFayette Reneau’s Riesling wins Best of Class

-Chateau LaFayette Reneau is proud to announce that its 2014 Dry Riesling has won the Best of Class Trophy for Medium Dry category at the Finger Lakes AVA Riesling Challenge. The awards ceremony was held on August 21, 2015 at the Grand Tasting of the Wine Symposium of the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes AVA Challenge wine competition invited Finger Lakes wineries and to submit their Rieslings to compete for honors in five categories established according to the International Riesling Foundation (IRF) taste profile. Thirty-eight wineries submitted 123 wines for the following categories – Dry, Medium Dry, Medium Sweet, Sweet, and Dessert. “This newly released 2014 Dry Riesling is tasting exceptionally well and has been an instant hit out in the market place. It’s great to know that Riesling grown on our estate is held in such high regard by my winemaker colleagues.” says Tim Miller, winemaker for Chateau LaFayette Reneau. “This award is unique in that the wines are judged against our peers who produce Riesling in the Finger Lakes region. We are very pleased with our wine being awarded a Best of Class Trophy.” says Gene Pierce owner/president of Chateau LaFayette Reneau.The International Riesling Foundation was established in 2007 to increase awareness and sales of Riesling as the world’s most noble wines in international markets. The 30 member board represents top producers from seven countries in the world’s major Riesling producing regions. Chateau LaFayette Reneau is located on the heart of the Finger Lakes on the east side of Seneca Lake, with 51 acres of meticulously maintained vinifera vines and the Inn at Chateau LaFayette Reneau, a fully restored five-bedroom farmhouse. Well drained sloping vineyards provide optimal sun exposure and air movement for consistently aromatic white wines and rich full flavored red wines.
