Auburn Chamber Orchestra holiday concert

Auburn Chamber Orchestra will perform a concert titled “A Special Christmas” on Sunday, December 13 at 4 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 299 Clark Street in Auburn. The performance will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah with vocalists Sara Heit, soprano, and Jeffrey Kerr, tenor, as well as music from Tschaikowski’s Nutcracker Suite. Other compositions will include Skater’s Waltz, The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Overture to Miracle on 34th Street. The performance also will offer a medley of holiday music from around the world and an audience sing-along of familiar Christmas carols. This performance is open to the general public with a $5 donation at the door. The orchestra is composed of both experienced adult musicians and advanced student musicians. Cayuga Community College students are able to earn college credit for participation in the orchestra. Steven Frackenpohl is the conductor and music director of the orchestra. Over the years, Auburn Chamber Orchestra has performed a varied repertoire, including both classical and popular compositions. The 2015-16 series concludes with “Peter and the Wolf” on March 6, 2016, at 2 pm at Fingerlakes Mall in Auburn and “Music from the Small Screen” on April 15, 2016, at 7:30 pm at Cayuga Community College.
