Klein’s 32 lifts Red Creek, Bloomfield falls at SOTA

The Red Creek Rams boys basketball team opened their season with a win over Section 3’s Hannibal, 45-36. Junior point guard Nick Klein scored 32 of the Rams 45 points while big man Willie Meyer pulled down 12 rebounds and scored 6. Red Creek will launch their Wayne County League title defense on Tuesday when they travel to the Atwood Gymnasium in Lyons to take on the Lions in a game that will be webcast live on FL1 Sports.

In other action on Tuesday night, Wyatt Conklin’s 28 points weren’t enough to lead the Bloomfield Bombers of SOTA. Bloomfield lost 83-62 despite Conklin’s career-high and 20 points from Haiden Ward. SOTA’s Christian Simmons dwarfed those totals in the win, pouring in a school record 45 points. The previous school-record was 40 points by Edsel Patterson in 2001. Bloomfield is back in action on Saturday night as they travel to Waterloo to face the Indians at 7:30 pm.Also on Saturday, don’t miss area high school basketball’s premiere showcase as the 2nd Annual NYCC Tip-Off Classic is set with a quadruple-header on tap, all broadcast live on FL1 Sports. The afternoon session tips-off at 1:00 pm with South Seneca vs. Southern Cayuga followed by a fantastic match-up between #3 North Rose-Wolcott and #6 Geneva in a FL East/Wayne County crossover.
