W-FL Monday: #3 NR-Wolcott moves to 4-0

The North-Rose Wolcott boys varsity basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a convincing 19 point win over Rochester Career Mentoring Charter School (RCMCS), 72-53, on Monday night in Wolcott. The win, along with victories over Geneva, Red Creek and Clyde-Savannah have the Cougars at 4-0. Tyler Norris led the way for NR-W with a game high 34 points.RCMCS is in the same sectional classification (B2) as NR-Wolcott and was expected to be a favorite to return to the sectional finals – they lost to Lyons in the C3 finals last season – as they returned their entire roster. Instead RCMCS has been less than expected so far losing last week by 21 to Pal-Mac. Mynderse Academy and Marcus Whitman will also compete with North Rose-Wolcott and RCMCS in B2 when the post-season arrives in two months. Also in Wayne County action Monday night, Gananda edged Williamson, 60-56, and Sodus defeated Section III’s Hanival, 55-52.Full boys & girls results and more below…Gananda 60, Williamson 56GAN (2-1) – Enrique Mosman 33WIL (2-2) – Jack Devendorf 16; Nigel Cobbs 12Hannibal (3) 52, Sodus 55SOD (1-2) – Andrew Hines 15RCMCS 53, #3 North Rose-Wolcott 72RCMCS (2-4) – Amos Williams 18NRW (4-0) – Tyler Norris 34, 8 reb; Luke Gerstner 18Girls Results from Monday night:Mynderse 59, Aquinas 51Marcus Whitman 40, Penn Yan 58Geneva 31, Our Lady of Mercy 52Albion 53, Red Jacket 47Canandaigua 53, Eastridge 31UPCOMING BOYS SCHEDULE:TUESDAY, DEC 8#2 Palmyra-Macedon @ Wayne 7:30 PM #5 Penn Yan @ #4 Newark 7:30 PM on FL1 Sports#8 Waterloo @ #7 Midlakes 7:30 PM Bloomfield @ HAC 6:30 PM #10 Dundee @ Red Jacket 7:30 PM Honeoye @ Romulus 7:30 PM South Seneca @ Marcus Whitman 7:30 PMFinger Lakes East action live from Newark on FL1 Sports Tuesday Night Basketball.
