Lago Time: Tyre casino gets NYS license

On Monday, Lago Resort & Casino officially became a reality when the NYS Gaming Commission unanimously approved to grant one of three licenses to the Wilmorite Corp. Shortly after the license was approved, Wilmorite Chairman Thomas Wilmot issued the following statement… "On behalf of my family, everyone at Wilmorite and our Lago Resort & Casino partners, employees and supporters, I want to thank the New York State Gaming Commission for the trust they have shown in us. This is a huge day, and not just for those of us connected to Lago but also for the people of Tyre, Seneca County and the entire Finger Lakes region." "We have said since the first day we unveiled this project two years ago that this was going to be a game changer for the region. We will create 1,800 jobs over the next year plus as we build Lago and then we will create 1,800 permanent jobs once Lago opens its doors, good jobs for people who desperately need them. We will bring new tourists to the Finger Lakes region to help wineries, breweries, farms, and other local businesses grow. We could not be more excited to be part of the economic resurgence of this beautiful region in Upstate New York that we call home. We were right two years ago and we’re right now: this will be a game changer."Brent Stevens, Managing Member of Peninsula Pacific which are two Lago Partners also issued a statement…"All of us at JNB Gaming and Peninsula Pacific are ecstatic at the opportunity to move forward on this incredibly exciting proposal. We have been involved in a number of first class casinos in different parts of the country and our collective experience in this industry tells us that Lago will be an overwhelming success. We are thrilled that the Gaming Commission has given us the green light and we look forward to building and operating Upstate New York’s best resort and casino."
