Sheriff sends message to drug dealers in Cayuga Co.

Cayuga County Sheriff David Gould has a special message for drug dealers in his county:”Report your competition to us!”The Sheriff’s Department under the leadership of Gould is taking a different approach to dealing with the increased use of heroin and increase in drug sales overall. The approach is one that has already come under fire from some as sending the wrong message, but as Sheriff Gould pointed out – when it comes to this particular issue – the problem isn’t resolving itself, so alternative measures need to be taken. In addition to giving the web address to the anonymous tip line, the message from Sheriff Gould reads as follows:”Is your drug dealing competition costing you money? We offer a free service to help you eliminate your drug competition; Report your competition to us!”Additionally, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department is asking for additional information, which would lead to the successful apprehension of these competing dealers. Whether it’s the address, home phone number, cell phone numbers, or description of vehicles used to transport drugs – the Sheriff Gould wants to put as much information in the hands of law enforcement as possible.Sheriff Gould also said that traditional contact methods, such as phone or email are welcomed, too. To report anything, residents can call (315) 406-2575 or email tips@cayugacounty.us.
