Auburn woman arrested for grand larceny

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following an investigation into the theft of cash from E&V Energy in the Town of Fleming by an employee.Detectives with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office were recently contacted by the manager of E&V Energy in the Town of Fleming after it was discovered that multiple cash payments had not been deposited into the business’s account and were missing. An investigation into the theft led to the arrest of an employee that had been stealing the cash and making false entries into the business’s records in an attempt to hide the theft. It appears that cash totaling in excess of $4000 was stolen from the business. Charged was Rene A. Marks, age 34 of Standart Woods Aptartments in Auburn. Marks was arrested on Thursday and charged with one count each of grand larceny in the third degree and falsifying business records. She was arraigned in the Town of Fleming Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $4500 cash bail or $10,000 bond.The investigation into this case is ongoing.
