Man arrested after sending stolen truck through Lyons home

According to New York State Police Department on Thursday State Police arrested Matthew S. Grimsley, age 32 of Red Creek, for grand larceny in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, and two counts of criminal mischief in the second degree.It is reported that on February 22nd of 2014 Grimsley stole a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck, damaged the vehicle, then placed an item between the vehicle’s gas pedal and seat. The unoccupied truck traveled across Helch Road into a field, struck a fence, traveled through an above ground swimming pool, and finally came to rest inside a private residence at 8833 Helch Road in Lyons.The collision resulted in an estimated $38,000 in damages to the residence and $4,000 to the stolen truck. Grimsley was arraigned in front of the Town of Lyons Justice Larry Hartwell and committed to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Lyons Court at 9 am on February 1st.
