An Oswego man was seriously injured, according to State Police after a series of accidents on the New York State Thruway around Exit 40, near Weedsport. State Police say that the man with the most-severe injuries was a 52-year-old male from Oswego. While State Police did not release any of the names of those involved in the accidents, those on the scene did point out that at least six tractor trailers were involved in the accidents, as well as multiple passenger vehicles. The Oswego man was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated for “serious injuries.”Whiteout conditions caused by a mix of blowing and lake effect snow, made traveling through that stretch of the Thruway nearly impossible. State Police say that it was likely the main cause of the series of accidents. While all of the accidents are continuing to be investigated, the Thruway has since reopened. The series of accidents were described as “massive pileups” by State Police and shut down all westbound lanes of the Thruway from Exit 39 to 41.
