An accident on the New York State Thruway briefly shut down all eastbound traffic between Exits 40 and 39, according to the Thruway Authority. All lanes were blocked, which resulted in traffic being diverted off the the Thruway at Exit 40. The accident was reported shortly after 10:00 am and the roadway was shut down at 10:19 am, according to the Thruway Authority.At about 11:35 am the New York Thruway Authority announced on Twitter that the accident had been cleared and that traffic was opened back up between Exits 39 and 40. However, the right lane remained blocked at time of reopening.

Weather likely played a role in the accident, as road conditions have become treacherous throughout the Finger Lakes with winds gusting in excess of 45 mph.
