Geneva man’s dog tasered during arrest

Early this morning around 4:18 am the Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Pre Emption Road in Geneva to investigate a neighbor dispute. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the resident, 30 year old Scott R. Gilbert Jr, was too intoxicated to care for himself and was placed into custody for Public Health Law 22.09.While attempting to place Gilbert in the Sheriff’s vehicle to transport him to a hospital for treatment he began physically resisting Deputies and would not go in the back of the car. Gilbert also kicked one of the Deputies twice striking him in the knee and chest. At that point Gilbert’s dog, which was running loose outside, attacked the Deputies lunging and biting at them several times. Deputies attempted to defend themselves with a baton but when the dog continued to attack they deployed a taser. At that time the dog fled the area. Gilbert was charged with harassment in the 2nd and resisting arrest and transported to the Ontario County Jail for pre-arraignment detention. He is to answer the charges in the Geneva Court at a later date.
