Police seeking answers in Emerson burglary

Members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office are currently investigating a burglary that occurred at the Emerson Park Pavilion located at 6861 East Lake Road in the Town of Owasco.On Thursday evening, at approximately 7:30 pm deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Emerson Park Pavilion in the Town of Owasco for a burglary alarm. Upon their arrival they discovered that entry had been forced into the building. No one was inside the building at the time they arrived. Deputies say it appeared that the pavilion was entered after entry was forced. It is not clear at this time if anything was taken. An investigation into the burglary is ongoing and as information becomes available — it will be made public to help assist with the location of the individual who forced their way into the location.A witness in the area indicated that two females, approximately seventeen years of age, had been attempting to open locked doors around the pavilion prior to the alarm. Both girls were wearing backpacks per the witness; however no further description could be given. Detectives say they would like to identify these subjects relative to this investigation.Sheriff Gould is asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of Emerson Park during this time frame to contact Detective Josh Blanchard at (315) 253-3902.
