Ithaca PD stop burglary in progress

On Monday at about 2:47 am Ithaca Police Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Eddy Street regarding a resident who was wakened by the sound of breaking glass from within the residence. While en route to the location dispatch advised responding officers that the resident had also heard someone inside the apartment. Officers arrived on scene and set up a perimeter. Shortly thereafter officers stopped a subject fleeing the residence. The subject, identified as Nickolas Conklin, age 22 of Ithaca, was secured in police custody. Conklin was transported to IPDHQ for booking and charged with burglary in the second degree, a Class C felony. A vehicle that was parked behind the apartment was secured for police investigation. A search warrant was obtained by IPD officers and upon searching the vehicle evidence from at least one other burglary was located inside the vehicle. Officers also obtained a search warrant for Conklin’s residence on Kelvin Place. Evidence from at least one other burglary was located inside of Conklin’s residence. Additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues. Conklin was arraigned in Ithaca City Court on one charge of Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony. Conklin was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond bail.
