Brush fire caused Romulus barn fire

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that a brush fire led to a barn fire in Romulus, which happened over the weekend.Deputies report that on Saturday evening, at approximately 6:47 pm the Romulus Fire Department responded to a barn fire on Yerkes Road, in the Town of Romulus. When deputies arrived, they say the barn was fully engulfed with heavy black smoke showing. Romulus Fire Department was the lead fire agency and was assisted by Fayette, Varick, Canoga, Hector, and Ovid Fire Departments. The owner of the barn was Mark Otto, who lived at the same address as the fire. He had no valuables or livestock inside the barn. However, it was a complete loss. Investigators found that a nearby brush fire, which was carried over by light winds caused the barn fire. There were no injuries reported in the fire, and the investigation has been completed, according to deputies.
