T-burg man charged in daytime burglary spree

The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office along with the New York State Police, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating several daytime jewelry burglaries which led to the identification of a possible suspect living in the Trumansburg area.On Monday morning, unmarked Schuyler County Sheriff’s vehicles and a New York State Police investigator were conducting surveillance on this suspect and his vehicle and apprehended the 35-year-old male around 11:00 AM as he was in the process of attempting another daytime residential burglary at a private residence on Warners Corners Road in the Town of Hector.Joel M. Woodring, age 35 of 4391 South Street Extension Trumansburg, was arrested and is charged with burglary in the second degree (class C felony) and is remanded to the Schuyler County Jail on $15,000 cash bail.Several items of jewelry were recovered from the thefts at Woodring’s Trumansburg residence.The investigation is continuing with additional charges expected.
