Yankees struggle heading into May

Despite hopes for improvement, the New York Yankees continue to struggle going into the month of May. The Yankees began the week with a three game series against the Texas Rangers in Arlington. The first game included an outstanding performance by our own Nathan Eovaldi. He threw 6 no hit innings before finally giving one up in the 7th, but the team would still get the win as Yankee bats finally woke up on what would be a 3-1 victory.Game two, however, the Yankees did not get nearly the performance out of their pitchers as the night before. In fact, it was pretty rough. Luis Severino would go only three innings giving up seven hits and six runs. While on the other side, Rangers pitcher A.J. Griffin would go for eight innings giving up just four hits and striking out five batters. Yankees lost 10-1.Game three, the Yankees would again fall short. Despite a three hit game from Alex Rodriguez, starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia gave up three runs through six innings leading to a 3-2 loss. After taking one from the Rangers, the Yankees would square off against their rivals, the Boston Red Sox. The three game series was held at Fenway Park. Game one, Masahiro Tanaka’s solid performance would be cancelled out by a two run 7th inning, as well as a two run home run the next inning off of Yankees’ pitcher Dellin Betances. The Yankees fell short to start the series 4-2.Game two of the series, wasn’t even worth watching. Yankees’ pitching simply couldn’t handle the fire power of the Red Sox lineup at all. The Sox would end up with 14 hits while the Yankees would only have 5. The Yankees lost 8-0.Game three was a very up and down battle. It was a game in which pitchers from both teams got rocked. There were five total lead changes, however, the Yankees would be on the losing side of the war. They would be put away by a two run home run from Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez off of once again, Dellin Betances. The team lost 8-7, thus getting swept by their rivals.Batter of the Week:Alex RodriguezGames – 4AVG – .429AB – 14H – 6BB – 1HR – 3RBI – 6Pitcher of the Week:Masahiro TanakaGames – 1IP – 6.2H – 6ER – 2BB – 0SO – 5 This upcoming week the Yankees will face off against even more AL East teams.
