Route 96 accident sends Newark man to hospital

An accident on State Route 96 in the Town of Manchester Sunday morning sent one man to the hospital, as another driver crossed the centerline. Deputies in Ontario County say that Shortsville Manchester Fire and EMS were dispatched to a two car accident on Route 96 in the Town of Manchester around 11:30 am on Sunday. Upon arrival, deputies began investigating at the scene, where they learned that Reuben Lewis Jr., 28, of Manchester was westbound on Route 96 just west of County Road 7 when his vehicle crossed the centerline. When his vehicle crossed the centerline, he struck another vehicle, which was being operated by Dennis Saul head on. Lewis was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital and was later released. He was ticketed for reckless driving, uninspected motor vehicle, unsafe tires, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third, unlicensed operation and failure to keep right. He will appear in Manchester Town Court to answer the charges.
